دیسکو

دیسکو (به انگلیسی: Disco)، گونه‌ای از موسیقی رقص و خرده‌فرهنگی‌ست که از باشگاه‌های شبانه دههٔ ۷۰ آمریکا نشأت گرفته‌است. از ویژگی‌های آن می‌توان به ریتم ۴ ضربی، سنکوپ در باسلاین، استفاده از سازهای زهی، هورن، پیانوالکتریک، سینث‌سایزر و گیتار ریتم الکتریک اشاره کرد.

ریشه‌های این گونه موسیقی مانند سایر سبک‌های موسیقی، به سختی می‌تواند در یک تعریف بیان شود. در فوریهٔ ۱۹۷۰، دی‌جی اهل نیویورک، دیوید منکیوزو، باشگاه لافت را تأسیس کرد؛ مجموعهٔ باشگاه‌های رقص خصوصی فقط مخصوص اعضا در شهر خودش که به عنوان پیشرو و آغازگر باشگاه‌های سبک دیسکو تلقی می‌شود. بسیاری معتقدند که نخستین آهنگ‌های دیسکو در سال ۱۹۷۳ عرضه شد ولی بعضی ادعا می‌کنند ترانه سول مکاسا از منیو دیبنگو در سال ۱۹۷۲ اولین اثر دیسکو است. اولین مقاله دربارهٔ دیسکو در سپتامبر ۱۹۷۳ به وسیلهٔ وینس آلتی برای مجلهٔ رولینگ استون نوشته شد. در سال ۱۹۷۴، رادیوی WPIX-FM شهر نیویورک، اولین برنامهٔ رادیویی دیسکو را اجرا کرد.[۱۰][۱۱]
