نهضت ترجمه یک حرکت بود که از بیت‌الحکمه(خانه ی حکمت) در بغداد شروع شد که در آن تعداد زیادی از مقالات یونانی به عربی ترجمه شد.
رابطه بین دوره کوتاه مدت ریاضیات اسلامی و ریاضیت یونانی و هند هنوز به همان اندازه که در ترجمه های لاتین کار موجود است و درک شده اند درک نشده است که شاید دلیل آن نابودی اسناد باشد.[۱]
