}}
|Health=, |Flammability=, |Reactivity= and |Other= are all optional. Use only the ones that are appropriate for the situation. Typically, the Blue, Red and Yellow sections will be filled in; if the hazard is not relevant, or it is known that there is no hazard in a category, assign a code of "0".
Example:
{{NFPA 704
| Health=0
| Flammability=1
| Reactivity=0
| Other=
}}
|
| Color | Meaning | Values |
|---|---|---|
| Blue | Health | |
| Red | Flammability | |
| Yellow | Reactivity* | |
| White | Other** |
* Prior to 1996, this section was titled "Reactivity". In current NFPA literature the yellow section is called "Instability".
** Only OX (markup: OX) and W (markup: <s>W</s>) are NFPA approved symbols, although various iconic graphics are in common use to denote acid, alkali, corrosive, radiation, poison and explosive hazards.
***When you use both OX and W, use OX, W (markup: <small>OX, <s>W</s></small>).
