The Template:EWD shows the auto-population date (of source census database) of a town as specified by the two parameters for nation code ("AT") and town-code (61022).

This template provides partial compatibility with the equivalent template on ویکی‌پدیای آلمانی, de:Vorlage:EWZ, to simplify copy-translation of pages from German. The letter "Z" in name "EWZ" represents "Zahl" as the count of residents, compared to "D" in "EWD" meaning "Date" for the as-of date in the population source database.

The initial implementation was to support town pages for Austria (nation code "AT"), and other nations were not supported yet.
