جان هنری هلند (به انگلیسی: John Henry Holland) (متولد ۲ فوریه سال ۱۹۲۹-درگذشت ۹ اوت ۲۰۱۵) دانشمند آمریکایی، استاد روانشناسی، استاد مهندسی برق و علوم کامپیوتر در دانشگاه میشیگان بود. او پیشرو در سیستمهای پیچیده و علوم غیر خطی بود. او همچنین به عنوان پدر الگوریتم ژنتیک شناخته میشود. او در سال ۱۹۶۱ مدال لوییس. ای لوی را از مؤسسه فرانکلین دریافت کرد.[۱]
سرگذشت[ویرایش]
هلند در سال ۱۹۲۹ در فورت واین در ایندیانا به دنیا آمد. کارشناسی فیزیک در مؤسسه تکنولوژی ماساچوست (MIT) سال ۱۹۵۰، کارشناسی ارشد ریاضیات در سال ۱۹۵۴ از دانشگاه میشیگان و در سال ۱۹۵۹ دکترای علوم کامپیوتر را از دانشگاه میشیگان دریافت کردهاست.[۲] او استاد روانشناسی و استاد مهندسی برق و علوم کامپیوتر در دانشگاه میشیگان بود. او همچنین یکی از اعضای مرکز مطالعات سیستمهای پیچیده (CSCS) در دانشگاه میشیگان و عضو هیئت امناء و هیئت علمی مؤسسه سانتافه بود.

او در سال ۱۹۷۵ کتابی پیشگامانه در مورد الگوریتمهای ژنتیکی، با نام «سازگاری در سیستمهای طبیعی و مصنوعی» (Adaptation in Natural and Artificial Systems) نوشت.
