دومینیک «سگ دیوانه» مک‌گلینچی (Dominic "Mad Dog" McGlinchey) (1954 – 10 فوریه ۱۹۹۴)، رهبر شبه‌نظامی جمهوری‌خواه ایرلندی بود که در اوایل دهه ۱۹۸۰ از عضویت در ارتش موقت جمهوری‌خواه ایرلند به رهبر گروه شبه‌نظامی آزادی‌بخش ملی ایرلند رسید.

مک‌گلینچی یکی از ۱۱ خواهر و برادری بود که در یک خانواده‌ای به شدت جمهوری‌خواه اهل بلاگی، شهر لوندندری به دنیا آمد. او در سال ۱۹۷۱ بدون هیچ اتهامی مدت ۱۰ ماه در زندان لانگ کیش ایرلند محبوس شد. اندکی پس از آزادی در سال بعد، دوباره به جرم تسلیحات به زندان افتاد. مک‌گلینچی در جریان حبس‌اش، در سال ۱۹۷۵ با مریم ازدواج کرد و صاحب سه فرزند شد.

مک‌گلینچی پس از این‌که از زندان آزاد شد، با ایان میلن و اعتصاب غذایی آینده فرانسس هوگز و توماس مک‌الوی پیوست و کارزار تیراندازی و بمباران شهر و فراتر از آن را ادامه داد. آن‌ها سپس در کنارهم به ارتش موقت جمهوری‌خواه ایرلند پیوستند. این گروه در اواخر دهه ۱۹۷۰ متواری بودند، عملیات‌ها را انجام می‌دادند و از چنگ ارتش بریتانیا و پلیس این کشور نیز فرار می‌کردند ولی سرانجام نیروی امنیتی، مک‌گلینچی را در سال ۱۹۷۷ در جمهوری ایرلند دستگیر کرد. او به جرم سرقت ماشین یک افسر پلیس و تهدید افسرهای پلیس با اسلحه محکوم به مجازات شد. مک‌گلینچی هنگامی‌که در سال ۱۹۸۲ مدت حبس‌اش را در زندان پورت لاویز سپری می‌کرد، با رهبری ارتش موقت جمهوری‌خواه ایرلند زندان درگیر شد و به دلیل رفتار خلاف اصول یا اختلافات استراتژیک تبعید گردید.

دومینیک مک‌گلینچی در سال ۱۹۵۴ در خانواده‌ای در جاده بالیسکیولیون، شهر بلاگی در روستای لاندندری به دنیا آمد. او سومین فرزند از ۱۱ فرزند خانواده‌ای به شدت جمهوری‌خواه بود. پدرش یک گراژ داشت و برخی مشتریان پلیس پدرش به دست مک‌گلینچی کشته شدند. مادرش مونیکا، یک کاتولیک مذهب بود و او ۷ خواهر و ۴ برادر داشت. مک‌گلینچی در مدرسه محلی درس خواند و به گفته هم‌کلاسی‌هایش که بعد دربارهٔ او اظهار داشتند، کودک نه چندان باهوشی بوده‌است. در سن ۱۶ سالگی در گراژ پدرش به کارآموزی پرداخت. او در این زمان در تظاهرات‌های متعدد مدنی که در کشورش برگزار می‌شد، شرکت می‌کرد. دلیل صریح این کار او هرچند معلوم نیست ولی دیلون حدس می‌زند که «او دربارهٔ واقعات و رویدادهای ماحول خود واکنش نشان می‌داد و ایده شرکت در تظاهرات‌ها در او علاقه و هویت نزدیک با جامعه خود را ایجاد کرد.

مرگ

مولونی در بهار ۱۹۹۴ در ایرلند شمالی می‌نویسد «خشونت با کشتار هر دو طرف اعم از جمهوری‌خواهان و وفادارماندگان به‌صورت آزادانه ادامه داشت». عداوت و دشمنی ۱۹۸۶ – ۱۹۸۷ارتش آزادی‌بخش ملی ایرلند دوباره شعله‌ور شد. از سوی دیگر، حزب شین فین به‌صورت فعالانه استراتژی صلح را برای ارتش موقت جمهوری‌خواه ایرلند و جریان جنبش جمهوری‌خواه ترویج می‌کرد. یکی از اعضای ارتش موقت جمهوری‌خواه ایرلند برای دیلون توضیح داد که چرا مک‌گلینجی در آن زمان بیش از آنچه که او خود درک کرده بود، شخصاَ آسیب‌پذیر بود. این داوطلب گفت که پاره‌ای از چالش مک‌گلینچی این بود که او پس از آزادی‌اش «هیچ گروه تروریستی نداشت تا از وی حفاظت کند». این منبع همچنین گفت که او بدون خانه‌ها امن، گزارش‌های استخباراتی، شبکه حمایوی و اقدامات احتیاطی غریزوی که زندگی‌اش را در حالت متواری بودن رهنمایی می‌کرد، مانند برخی افرادی آسیب‌پذیر شده بود که [او] زمانی آن‌ها را مورد هدف قرار می‌داد. این‌ها مواردی از مشکلات و چالش‌های مک‌گلینچی بودند. او نتوانست درک کند که مانند یک مرغابی نشانده شده‌است. فرگال کین روزنامه‌نگار استدلال می‌کند که در زمان مرگ مکگلینچی «کسی در سازمان نبود تا از وی محافظت کند».

حوالی ساعت ۰۹:۳۰ شام پنج‌شنبه، ۱۰ فوریه ۱۹۹۴، مک‌گلینچی به دیدار دوستانش در خیابان دولیک، نزدیک خانه‌اش رفت و در آنجا با آن‌ها نان شب را خورد. او تقریباً ۴۰ دقیقه بعد از آنجا برآمد و می‌خواست ویدیویی را به دکانی در بروکویل به سمت شمال شهر ببرد. مک‌گلینچی متعاقباً رفتار و وضعیت پدرش را در آن شب «آشفته و از نظر عاطفی ناراحت» توصیف کرد. او اظهار داشت که از پدرش پرسید آیا او فکر می‌کند خطری از سوی ارتش جمهوری‌خواه ایرلند متوجه اوست، مک‌گلینچی در جوابش گفت: «از این ناراحت هستم که نامم توسط افرادی سیاه می‌شود که هرگز فیر نکرده‌اند… نه، ارتش جمهوری‌خواه ایرلند هرگز مرا نمی‌کشد، پسرم». حدود ۱۱ شب، مک‌گلینچی و دومینیک ۱۶ ساله می‌خواستند به خانه برگردند، دیلون – «به دلایلی که هرگز واضح نبود –» گفت – مک‌گلینچی در جاده باغ‌های هاردمن نزدیک بیمارستان لوردس به سمت غرفه تلفن عمومی در کنار خیابان رفت تا زنگ بزند.

تقریباً بلافاصله – باوجود این‌که ۴ نفر در آن محل وجود داشتند – یک ماشین از نوع مزدای سرخ رنگ در کنارش ایستاد. درحالی‌که پسرش از ماشین بر او نگاه می‌کرد، سه مرد بر او حمله کردند و او را مورد ضرب و شتم قرار دادند. وقتی او به زمین افتاده بود، مردان مسلح – که سه تفنگ دست‌کش و یک تفنچگه در دست داشتند – ۱۴ مرمی به سمت مک‌گلینچی شلیک کردند. حمله بر او با شلیک مرمی نهایی بر سرش برخورد کرد، هرچند او قبلاً مرده بود. آخرین سخنی که بر زبان آورد این بود «عیسی، مریم مرا کمک کن». پسرش برای آمبولانس فریاد زد. به گفته اولین افسر پلیس که در صحنه قتل حاضر شد، دومینیک جونیور به او گفت که «این پدر من است، این پدر من است، بر او شلیک کردند. عجله کن، به ایست‌های بازرسی بروید». تأثیر وحشتناک و دیدن چنین بی‌رحمی سرد روی پسر مک‌گلینچی را تنها می‌توان در «مشاهده هولاند و مک‌دونالد» تصور کرد.
