عنصر کربن دارای ۱۵ ایزوتوپ شناخته شده از ۸C تا ۲۲C است که از این میان دو ایزوتوپ (۱۲C و ۱۳C) به طور طبیعی در طبیعت یافت می‌شود.۱۴C ایزوتوپ پرتوزای طبیعی این عنصر است که دارای نیمه عمر ۵٬۷۳۰ سال است.
